“Letter of Support”

You will need to obtain a letter of support from the two people you are listing as mentors on your application.  This ensures that they are willing to dedicate the time to you to be your mentor.  Keep in mind that a potential mentor must be well-established in their career and have substantial funding of their own, as well as experience as a mentor. 

A potential mentor must be willing to:

• Meet with you in-person frequently and present ideas for future clinical research projects, as well as discuss current research progress
• Give you formal feedback, at least annually
• Provide support, direction, insight and assistance with writing, research proposals, study design, methods, analysis, and dissemination of results, as well as opportunities for collaboration, networking, and advancement through recommendations for committee membership and authoring scholarly review articles and book chapters.
• Be available to present at least once, annually, at the weekly seminar
• Attend some of the weekly seminars with you
• Attend the annual, full day, CRTC's Career Development Retreat

Please ask both your primary and secondary mentor to write you a letter of support that addresses the items listed above, as well as any other pertinent information. When you submit your online application, the system will automatically generate an email asking the mentors you have listed for a letter of support. It is up to you to ensure that they receive this email and complete it on time. You will be able to check our online system to check on the status of your letters.
