Overview

The KL2 Career Career Development Award is aimed at fellows, post-doctoral scholars, and junior faculty committed to multidisciplinary clinical research. The program provides generous financial support and benefits that allow the scholar to focus on didactic studies and clinical research to further their career goals and to contribute to clinical and translational science.

The KL2 provides support for trainees, known as Clinical Research (CR) Scholars, who come from a variety of fields such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, behavioral sciences, biostatistics and epidemiology. All candidates must have support from their department to commit at least 75% of their time to didactic and clinical research training for at least two years.

Trainees in the KL2 program will have opportunity to earn a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) from Washington University or a Master of Science Degree in Public Health (MSPH) from Saint Louis University, and will be able to take courses at both institutions. Additionally, they will participate in a hands-on, mentored, multidisciplinary research experience. 

The program, based out of Washington University (WU) School of Medicine, is a collaborative effort with Saint Louis University (SLU), University of Missouri in St. Louis (UMSL) College of Nursing, St. Louis College of Pharmacy (STLCOP), and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Nursing.  Applicants must have a doctoral-level degree in a discipline that can be applied to clinical research. These degrees include, but are not limited to, the MD, DrPH, DO, DDS, DMD, DOT, DPT,OTD, OD, DC, PharmD, PhD, PsyD, DNSc, as well as biostatisticians, epidemiologists, behavioral scientists, and nurses with doctoral degrees.
